“The Fall”: Chapter Seven
Week 7
Good News
Michael grabbed the note and unfolded it. Reading, “Yes I like you.” She drew flowers at the bottom of the paper.
He wrote, “You're coming to the church now.”
Passing the note to her
After she read it
Sierra began writing
That's when he heard the pastor talking about jealousy.
The note was passed back.
Reading, “My mom likes the church. She talked about your dad's message."
Michael was so happy she was going to be at the church and proud his dad preached a great word.
He wrote back, “Would you like to play tic-tac-toe?” Passing the note back to her. Unfolding the note she read it.
Scooting closer to Michael and he moved closer to Sierra. They began playing. He won at first. The second time, she beat him. This was so much fun.
Playing with Sierra, he noticed he liked her smile.
Nervously he wrote, would you like to be my girlfriend? She nodded yes. That's when he heard the pastor asking if anybody wanted prayer. Everybody stood up after a few people who got prayed for. He would have to wait to see her next week. After the prayer, they gathered their things and our mothers spoke a second time before leaving Sierra waved goodbye.
What a feeling, he had started missing her already. So much fun they were having playing games. Now Michael wanted to come to church the next week. “We're waiting on your dad, he's meeting with the pastor.” Michael sat down saying, “Yes ma'am”

“Deacon Red, I wanted to let you know how grateful I am for what you have done for the ministry.”
“Thank you pastor.”
“That’s the reason why I wanted both of you in here.”
Both men nodded
“I ask will you be minister Saint’s right hand when I'm gone.”
Deacon Red shifted uncomfortably in his chair
Looking at Calvin while saying, “I'll do anything if it's the Lord's will. My only question is, does this mean I'm next if something happens to minister Saint."
“Yes, you would be the next pastor, if it comes down that minister Saint can not pastor any longer.”
Deacon Red started thinking about all the years he gave to the church.
“Pastor I would love to be. Thank you for the opportunity and Calvin if you need anything just ask.” When Red got out of his seat, walking past Calvin he heard him saying that he was lucky.
After deacon Red left the pastor started talking to Calvin.
“What I ask of you, is going to be hard. Some members will leave, but I want you to preach for the Lord and everything will come together. I might need you preaching a little more often to help me out. Next Sunday I will announce the good news. Now go home and let your family know you will be the next pastor at Greater Love Apostolic Church.”
“Thank you pastor.”
Minister Saint thought of the events that Sunday, ready to tell his family about this new opportunity. They were sitting waiting on him. His wife was holding Isaac, Michael bothering his mother. Walking up to them with a smile saying, “I have good news.” They seemed excited and eager to know what he had to tell them. In the car it was Michael who asked what was the good news. He waited to tell them. Then finally saying that he will be the new pastor of the church. Everybody was excited for him. He was grateful for God's blessing. Minister Saint knew he deserved it, yet was still so humble. This was for all the times he stayed obedient on his mission. Even when he didn't understand it.
Looking at his wife, “Would you mind staying in the city a little while longer?”
“I miss our family but I support you in this opportunity.”
“Maybe I can pastor for a few years then we can move closer to them.” His wife said, “If it's God's will.”
Calvin agreed with his beautiful wife. She's been with him through all these years. “Thank you for everything, First Lady.”
Laughing slapping his knee
