“The Fall”: Chapter Six

Week 6

Prayers Come True

Minister Saint, “That was a great sermon you preached, last Sunday.”

“Thank you pastor.”

“So the reason I brought all of you in here this morning, I've decided to pass my pastoral leadership to minister Saint.”

The room was silent not a word was said

Some were thinking, how him? He hasn't been a member for a long time.

“I understand what some of you deacons are thinking.”

Bodies uncomfortably shifted in their chairs.

“Calvin, after church come see me, so we can talk about the transition.”

“You must feel lucky.” Said one of the deacons

Minister Saint replied, “I feel blessed.”

The pastor said amen, noticing the tension in the room.

“We should be happy for our minister here.”

A few nodded in agreement

Minister Saint couldn't believe it

He will be the next pastor of Greater Love Apostolic Church

What would that mean for his family

He knew his wife would be excited to be the First Lady of the church

After this meeting he was going to tell his family about the good news.

“Alright now back to business when are we thinking about doing the men's retreat?”

"We were thinking in two months we will have the men's retreat, after the men's will be the women's and at the end of the year we'll do the marriage retreat.”

The pastor sat down because he was tired. “I like how that sounds.” Coughing a bit. The room grew quiet again

Minister Saint heard the same deacon whisper, that he was really lucky. In his seat minister Saint began to pray, thanking the Lord, for the opportunity he has blessed him with. He couldn't wait to tell his family. What would his family think? Minister Saint knew his wife had mixed feelings about moving. She loved this beautiful city but they were so far from their families. Yet this a big opportunity, he always wanted to pastor a church. The pastor finished speaking, releasing everyone before the service.

Members were getting ready for the service to begin. People finding their seats. Michael's friends didn't sit with him this week. Asking his mother for pieces of paper, so he can write his Godly stories. She handed him his notebook and pencils.

Isaac was playing with his toys.

The praise and worship singers started heading to the front of the church. Michael didn't really want to be at church. That's when everything changed.

The cute girl with her curls began walking down the bench closer to him. Michael became so nervous. Her family followed behind, sisters and mother. They sat next to his family. In a way, he was excited. Hoping the service would be longer than normal. Her mother said hello to Michael's mother. The praise and worship team started singing. They looked at each other and began smiling. She whispered, asking Michael for a piece of paper. Michael tore a sheet out of his notebook. Handing it to her, she said thank you. Michael gave her one of his pencils.

She started writing

Next to her was the older sister.

They were smiling.

Both of them whisper things.

Then she passed the paper back to Michael. The parents didn't notice the passing of notes. He unfolded the paper. It read, “Hello my name is Sierra. How are you?.” Michael smiled then he wrote.

“I'm okay, my name is Michael. What is the answer to my qustion?" He handed Sierra the paper when her mother wasn't looking. Both Sierra and her big sister read the paper. She began writing again.

Then they got interrupted when everybody had to stand up to pray for the offering.

Again, the same guy asked the question, “Will a man rob God?” Michael was thinking how can a man rob God. He had to wait for everybody to give their offering before they could sit. Michael noticed he didn't listen to the choir singing; he was so happy that Sierra was sitting next to him. Thinking to himself that prayers do work.

The pastor began walking to the pulpit, when he stood in front of the podium. Everybody was ready for him to pray. After the prayer, all sat down. Sierra passed the note.
